Everyone’s life has been touched in one way or another by mental health struggles, be it first hand or by a loved one, and I am no exception. My own personal experience around these issues is what drives my passion to help others and inspires me to make changes in my own life, community, and beyond. On March 15th, 2022 I will embark on a 2,194.3 mile hike along The Appalachian Trail in order to raise awareness and spread positivity. Along the way I will be documenting my journey and sharing my story on social media to show the world the way the great outdoors can be a positive and healing force in anyone’s life. Over the course of this hike I hope to forge connections with those local to the trail and share stories together. The hike itself can be viewed as a metaphor for the way we struggle with mental health. It will be difficult. There will be good days and bad days and days that I feel like quitting but if i can put one foot in front of the other and push through those bad days i will make it to the other side.

Follow my journey!

My Mission

My first hike on The Appalachian Trail is only the beginning! I am already looking toward the future by planning more hikes, a bus renovation project, and events all over the country. My ultimate goal is for Eyes Opened Outdoors to evolve into a fully fledged non profit organization for mental health and suicide prevention and awareness.
